How Murphy Beds Work

Practical information for planning a space-saving guest room.

A Bed When You Need It

A Murphy bed is designed to fold into a secured cabinet when it isn't being used. The exact motion and clearance depend on the approved lifting hardware and bed configuration.

We plan around room size, the mattress, accessible walkways, and a safe mounting surface before presenting a final design.

Compare designs and select Maple, Alder, or Oak with a finish from our reference board.

We review the hardware, anchoring needs, dimensions, material availability, and price before committing to a project.

Common Questions

What size Murphy beds can you build?

Mattress and cabinet sizes will depend on the selected hardware system and your room. Tell us your preferred size in your inquiry so we can evaluate it.

Can I choose a different wood or stain?

We offer Maple, Alder, and Oak as wood choices to discuss and show twelve reference stain colors. Availability and final appearance must be confirmed prior to ordering.

Will the unit need to be secured to the wall?

Yes. Wall beds must be installed and anchored in accordance with the chosen hardware manufacturer's instructions and the actual wall structure. Never operate an unsecured Murphy bed.

Can I request a desk with either Murphy bed?

Yes. Both Mountain Rustic and Modern White can be requested with an optional desk. Desk design, movement, hardware, safety clearances, availability, and final pricing require review before confirming the build.
